Maternity Shirts - not so flattering

While getting dressed for work this morning I decided to wear a skirt - I threw on an older non-maternity skirt and when it wouldn't zip - I just yanked the waistline up above my little bump and up went the zipper. Then I had a new dilemma - the new super high waistline would surely show through any shirt I had. So, I threw on a maternity tank and then a maternity shirt and voila - instant tent! I looked ridiculous. I didnt really look pregnant just like I decided to hide my middle section all together. At this point I didn't have the energy to find another outfit - so i took my Ringling Brothers getup and went to work. I guess I'll have to go shopping with my mom this weekend for some better options.

17 weeks

AHHH - I think my butt may have grown more than my belly! Seriously, at 17 weeks I find myself telling strangers - no this is not a beer gut, I am in fact pregnant. Craig and I even forget sometimes that I'm pregnant. Since I just have this little bump and I haven't felt the baby move it isn't hard to forget. My friend Stacey who is also pregnant took a picture of her feet a little while ago to remember that at one time she could still see her feet. Good idea Stace - here's my "remember when we could still see out feet!" picture.

13 weeks

Here is our second sonogram done on April 4th. The little guy/girl measured exactly at 13 weeks so they moved my due date to Oct. 9th. Again, you need to turn your head to the left and you can kind of see the outline of its little body. Its not the best picture - since it is of the back of him/her but you can see its head, and shoulders and back. We saw it move it's tiny hand towards its mouth . Craig thought maybe it was waving to us - but I knew it was just looking for a thumb to suck on. It really was an amazing site to see.

We can't believe we're at 13 weeks already. One more week and we'll be in our second tri-mester. I'm hoping to have more energy but I'm really feeling great so I shouldnt complain.

We just got back from spending a wonderful little vacation at my mom's house in Florida. My sister and her lovely family were also down for their Easter break. We had such a wonderful time and did as much as we could. We spent one day at Disney and one at Sea World's water park. We had so much fun with the kids and at the end of each day - we were all exhuasted. Thanks Mom for such a great vacation!

Baby or Tape Worm?

At the end of January this year I remember saying to a co-worker, “I really think I might have a tape worm” I was starving all day long and I couldn’t quite eat enough to get rid of the hunger. I have never had much of an appetite so this was weird for me – I was positive it was a tape worm. Nope, I was just pregnant and didn’t know it yet. Well, the hunger only got worse. It starts at 4:00am when my growling belly wakes me up and I force down crackers to sleep for only 3 more hours when the hunger wakes me again. I head downstairs for some oatmeal and then get ready for work. I grab some kind of breakfast bar to eat on my way to work and then when I get there I start in on a piece of fruit. I usually snack on some almonds to get me through the morning and then eat my breakfast promptly at 11:45am. The day continues like this – me snacking all day until I get home around 5:30 and then force my husband to eat dinner around 6:30. Well, by 9:00pm I am starving again. At this point I am frustrated and mad at my body. I have been seriously eating all day! I eat a peanut butter and Jelly sandwich and then head to bed.
I am begging all of my other pregnant friends to tell me I’m not alone in my crazed hunger. Please tell me you feel you might also be pregnant with a tape worm!!!

Family In town!

Craig's parents and uncle have come in today for the weekend. They are all going to the NCAA Tournament games today and Saturday and then staying to celebrate Easter with us. His sister and future brother in-law are arriving tomorrow night to join us as well. We are all so excited to be together for a nice long weekend.

Our little Poppy Seed baby is now the size of a kumquat. I find that funny since I just bought a package of kumquats at the grocery store. I'm going to make Candied Kumquats for Shane, our future brother in law, who loves them. Well - it will all give us a good visual as to how itty bitty our little baby Brugger is.

Baby Brugger's First Picture

Over the weekend we had a little scare with a fair amount of spotting. Being as anxious as I am - I called the doctor who asked me to come in on Monday. I went in and was given an internal sonogram. Within minutes I could see the baby - it was amazing. The doctor pointed out the head, arms and legs. At 10.5 weeks it was a teeny, tiny little human with a beating heart. I was in awe and relieved that everything was ok. we have another sonogram appointment for April 4th and we can't wait to see how it's grown.

If you turn your head sideways to the left it makes more sense. The baby is on its side facing us. You can see his/her head on the left and it's littel arms on either side.
